My second Tryptich. Painted to hang on the wall in my livingroom, So I spent a lot of time putting all kinds of love into this one. The three paintings can be separated a bit to take up more space on a long wall. Colors are a light ocean blue with sandy background. Painted completely with palette knives.
The heart can think of no devotion greater than being shore to ocean. Holding the curve of one position, counting the endless repitition.
This was painted as part of my Mantra series.
At the time I had just lost a childhood mentor and it really hit me in my heart. The lesson I found in that was that nothing is permanent and you have to be willing to loose everything. It really makes you appreciate what you have. So I wrote this on my canvas and painted around it. I've included pictures of the process so you can see where it came from.
The outcome was easy, bright and cheerful. But the emotion the painting began with was sorrow.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
